Making the downsizing process manageable

Moving Mom Senior Downsizing

Sensitive Move Management for Seniors

After her husband passed away, Phyllis needed help downsizing from her 3-bedroom home to an apartment. Downsizing a senior who has experienced loss is an especially sensitive move to manage. Our team is specially trained to deal with the emotional and psychological toll that this can be for the entire family, and for this client we were careful to balance the human equation carefully with the need to manage the movement of physical items.

We started her transition by sorting and organizing every item in her home. Many items were donated or sold, while others went into storage. Sensitive documents she no longer needed were shredded and disposed of.

When it came time to move, we carefully packed all of Phyllis’s belongings and managed the move to her new apartment. Once there, we unpacked for Phyllis and made sure her previous home was cleaned and ready for its new owners.

Phyllis enjoyed a stress-free transition to her new apartment surrounded by the belongings that mattered most to her.

For Phyllis, downsizing was the best option. But for Aaron and Irma, rightsizing would more fit the bill. Read their story here.
